Norton v. Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance
An amicus brief filed in the U.S. Supreme Court by Robert G. Dreher, Deputy Executive Director of GELPI, and William Araiza, Professor of Law at Loyola Law School, on behalf of professors of administrative and environmental law. The brief addresses the authority of the federal courts to review an agency's failure to comply with a statutory mandate.

Friends of the Earth, et al., v. Laidlaw Environmental Services, (No. 98-822).
Brief amicus curiae of Americans for the Environment in Supreme Court of the United States, in support of Friends of the Earth position because it raises a fundamental challenge to the authority of Congress to include a citizen suit provision in the Clean Water Act to counteract the significant practical obstacles American citizens would otherwise encounter in advocating effective implementation of the Act.
