Global Warming Litigation

More than a dozen lawsuits related to global warming are currently pending before the federal and state courts. Environmental advocates, public interest organizations, individual property owners, and state governments have filed suits seeking judicial intervention in the face of Congress’s failure, at least to date, to enact legislation to address the global warming issue. The U.S. Supreme Court will address the authority of EPA to address global warming in the case of Massachusetts v. EPA in the 2006 term.
